Welcome to Financial Aid

Fall Term Disbursement Information

Financial Aid will be disbursed to your student account and will be applied toward your tuition, fees, books and other charges as authorized on October 2 if you have met all outstanding requirements.  You may login to your ‘Student Services’ account to check your status:  www.cocc.edu and click the ‘My Login’ button.

REFUND CHECKS & BALANCE DUE:
ALL FINANCIAL AID REFUND CHECKS WILL BE MAILED BEGINNING OCTOBER 7.
Check your ‘Student Services and Financial Aid’ account on Wednesday, October 7 to see if an “Automatic Refund” has been processed.

Pay any balance due to COCC by Friday, October 9.  You may view your balance online through your ‘Student Services’ account.  You are responsible for all charges not covered by financial aid funds. A late fee of $30 will be imposed for outstanding balances not paid by October 12.  Additional late fees will be assessed weekly to a maximum of $90.

DISBURSEMENT:  The amount of financial aid you receive depends on the number of credit hours in which you are enrolled on October 2.   Classes must be taken for credit to count toward financial aid.  Classes taken as audit will not count for financial aid.  The amount of financial aid you receive may be different from your awarded amount.  Award amounts are based on full-time enrollment (12 credit hours); your financial aid payment amount will be calculated based on your enrollment as of 5 p.m. Friday, October 2.  Subsequent award adjustments will be made only if you are wait listed in a late starting class on October 2 and you notify Financial Aid when you have added the class.

Short term classes:  Financial aid will include your enrollment in late starting classes.  Dropping a late starting class within the 100% refund period or not attending may result in an adjustment to your financial aid.   If you are waitlisted in a late starting class on October 2, you must add the class within the 100% refund period to be considered for any financial aid adjustment.

BOOKSTORE CREDITS:  You may be able to purchase books and supplies on credit at the COCC Bookstore beginning August 31.  To be eligible for a bookstore credit, all requested documents must be satisfied, your award must be accepted and you must be enrolled.  Check your ‘Student Services’ account for active 'Messages’ to see if you have sufficient financial aid for a Bookstore credit.  If eligible, you may charge books at the COCC Bookstore until 3 p.m. Friday, October 2 .  Books and supplies charged at the Bookstore will be deducted along with your tuition and fees from your total financial aid award for the term.  The maximum bookstore credit available is $500 for a term depending on aid eligibility.

LOANS:
You must be enrolled in 6 credits by 5 p.m. on September 29 to have your student loans disbursed by October 2.  If you are a first time borrower at COCC, you are required to complete entrance loan counseling and sign your Master Promissory Note before loans will be processed.  You can check online with your ‘Student Services’ account to see if you need to complete any loan counseling.

Cancelation:  You have the right to decline a loan disbursement, or to cancel your loan entirely.  Notify the Financial Aid Office if you wish to cancel a loan disbursement.  Enrollment that drops below 6 credits at any time during the term will cause your loan grace period to begin and your loans will be canceled for all remaining terms.  As long as you remain eligible, you may re-request loans in future terms.

FEDERAL WORK-STUDY:  You may check current job postings online: www.coccstudentjobs.com. Work-study is limited and offered to students which indicate interest in the work-study program on the FAFSA and have financial need.  Work-study awards may be reduced due to fund availability and outside resources.  Awards are projected maximum earnings only.  COCC does not guaranty positions to all students awarded work-study.  For more information visit:  http://finaid.cocc.edu/workstudy or contact the CAP Center at 541-383-7200.
